The HAWK radar family is a compact, portable short-range radar system operating on a Frequency Modulated Continuous Wave (FMCW) principle with an instantaneous refresh rate, and an Active Electronically Scanned Array (AESA) antenna which utilises the X-Band Frequency Range for an extremely high resolution. The system is tripod mounted and man-portable, and its low power requirement means it can operate on solar panels and battery packs when deployed in the field for versatile drone detection in remote locations.
These radars are designed with Counter-Unmanned Aerial Systems (C-UAS) application in mind, capable of detecting and tracking multiple targets simultaneously. With a large effective radius of over 30 kilometres, the system can detect targets with a Radar Cross Section (RCS) of 1 square metre at 16 kilometres and micro sized drones (RCS 0.01m2) at ranges of up to 6 kilometres. Moreover, the radar is capable of providing accurate targeting data to Air-Defence Systems and is the main target tracking and targeting component of our RP-24 Hard Kill C-UAS System [backlink].
Like all of our radars, the HAWK can be fully integrated with other existing Air-Defence Assets such as Surface-to-Air Missiles (SAMs) and Anti-Air (AAs) installations by way of data exchange or full data fusion into C4i networks. This system is ideal for protecting Critical Infrastructure from low-flying, manoeuvrable and hard-to-detect threats such as UAVs or securing larger and more expensive radar systems, which are vulnerable to drone attacks.
